There’s Always Time for God

Reading Time: 1 minute

Do you have time for God?  Sometimes our life gets busy, but if we are too busy for God then may I suggest that we’re too busy.  There’s always time for God.

There's Always Time for God

Today was a very busy day for me.  I have an all day conference that will go from very early to very late.  There may be a lot of excuses that I could come up with.  If I had reasons, to be honest, they would all be excuses. But I made time to get up even earlier to have time for God and really with Him.

Real Followers vs Fake Followers of Jesus

Reading Time: 2 minutes

There is a difference between real and fake followers of Jesus.  Jesus makes this clear and the apostles also made this clear.  Those who continue in Jesus’ words, who keep His commands are followers of Jesus.

Real Follwers vs Fake Follwers of Jesus

Many “sports fans” are casual at best.  They rarely go to their team’s games, once in a great while will watch one with friends, but they are really not into the games themselves.  These are the fake fans, they just want to be included. The fake fans rely on others to fill them in on the information about the team.

Following Jesus, At All Cost

Reading Time: 3 minutes

There are costs to do every activity in life.  Each endeavor costs us time, money, and other opportunities.  There is limited time and resources in life.  Those resources will run out. When we follow Jesus it will be at all cost.

Pickup Your Cross and Follow Jesus

If I choose to watch a football game, it is costing me the opportunity to do another activity.  If I am hired at one job full time, I can’t be hired at their competitor doing the same thing.  I can’t agree to every opportunity that comes along because I would run out of one of these resources.

In our limited resources that we have, what will you be spending them on?  What matters to you in this life enough to spend your resources on?  What, will it cost you to follow and serve the Lord?

Living Out Your Faith From the Stage

Reading Time: 2 minutes

There comes a time in our lives that the stories that we’ve heard become real and personal. No longer are the stories of someone else’s life and faith lived out in front of you, but it becomes real, it becomes personal, and the stories are of your walk and faith and life. It’s time to begin living out your faith.

Living Out Your Faith From the Stage

I’d heard stories of the pastor’s in the Calvary Chapel Movement who had faith in the Lord and how God moved mightily to begin their fellowships or did miracles in their midst. I’d heard stories of how they had to rely on the Lord for everything. We began experiencing the same thing two years ago.

All I had was a calling from the Lord and a life willing to submit to Him. It seemed like enough and my naivety was a gift as I didn’t know what I was heading into. All I knew from the Lord was that I was to start a church.

Waiting in 2018 for Jesus Return

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Here is another new year.  We are only a few hours into it but the problems from yesteryear seem to have not gone away.  Many will be focused on losing weight, building new habits, or stopping old bad habits.  But as Christians, we are charged by the apostle Peter to do much more than these. We need to be waiting in 2018 for Jesus’ return.

Waiting for Jesus in 2018

There have been many years past where I have made some of these new promises only to fail a few weeks in.  If I tried to exercise or lose weight, I did well until the newness wore off.  There was motivation at first, but it didn’t last.

How to Receive God’s Blessings

Reading Time: 2 minutes

One of the most unhappy people that you will ever meet in life is the person who is trying to get and that will never give.  They don’t ever give to anyone, but they are always trying to receive.  They are the hoarder, the miser, and the non-giver.

Gods Blessings

On the converse, the happiest person, the most joyful person in life is the giver.  This person is always giving to others.  They seem the most fulfilled when they can give things away.  They look to bless other people.

Reading Time: 3 minutes

We all need a time to reset, take a step back, and to get a breather. Maybe you are finding yourself overwhelmed with tasks, with more to do than hours in a day, week, a year. You don’t know how you are going to do it. Completely Overwhelmed?

Reset when overwhelmed

Praise of God, Not of Man

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Today, self-esteem and “self-love” reign in the thought process of what is thought of as right.  If it makes you feel good, then it is OK for you to do.  But conversely, it is not popular to follow Jesus. It is popular to seek the praise of people, not the praise of God.

Praise of God, Don't Think Positive

Oh, it is OK to follow the “positive” Jesus, to be religious and positive. To teach all of Jesus’ teachings and to including the negative aspects is thought of as unloving and that somehow you harbor hatred.

Two Things You Can Do to Go Deeper with God

Reading Time: 2 minutes

There are a few phrases floating around in the Christian lingo. One that I’ve heard quite a bit is to Go deeper with God. I’ve even sang the words in church. Have you ever wondered what that meant? Is that even a thing?

Go Deeper with God

When I go swimming, I hate the part of getting in. I’ve used all of the methods, jumping in to get used to the water quickly, getting splashed by others (not by choice and dislike it a lot), and starting in the shallow water and walking to the deeper area.

Whatever the method, there is only one way that you can swim, to get wet. You can’t stay dry and swim, your body has to be immersed in water to swim.

Our most valuable commodity is time. Today our time is pulled in so many directions. It seems that we never had enough of it. It is hard to find the time to read the Bible among all the other priorities we have.

God’s Power in My Life

Reading Time: 4 minutes

There is a noticeable power vacuum lately. This is NOT a political statement.  I am not even talking about the lack of strong leadership around us.  There is a noticeable power vacuum with a lack of God’s Power in people’s lives.

God's Power in My Life

Look around you. If you notice what I have noticed lately, there are people in despair. People have no hope of overcoming the problems in their lives.

They have tried man’s wisdom and it hasn’t worked. People are looking for power in their lives and they will go anywhere to find it.

Live Unoffended in an Offensive World

How to React On Social Media to Negative Comments

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I wrote a couple of simple lines on Facebook. Some emotions ran high. Unexpected comments came in.  I had no idea that a simple statement would cause this.  Sound familiar?

Live Unoffended in an Offensive World

I am reminded how so many people online can come across combative. There are countless times when I have seen outright attacks or comments that are misaligned.  In a time when information flies quickly across our screens and our reactions seem just as quick, we can become quickly offended.

4 Reasons There is No Time for Sin

Reading Time: 2 minutes

There was a realization that I had today.  We look around the world and see every crazy thing happening.  Islam is making a push to take over the world, Atheism is taking over in countries where Christianity once was prominent, and the United States is in a moral tailspin.  The realization was this, THERE IS NO TIME FOR SIN IN MY LIFE.

There is No Time for Sin

I remember growing up in a large church.  We were comfortable there.  The church was enjoyable, with a pastor who lived fully for God.  We had great music and an amazing youth group.

Although, some of the church members seemed to live a double life.  We would dabble in worldly things and clear our conscience on Sunday when we devoted our lives to God for a couple of hours.
